Julia Butterfly HillCathy was called by Julia's manager and they will be passing through Fresno on Thur, 11/17 and want to do something to help KFCF. Cathy was able to arrange to use the large room at the African American Museum in downtown Fresno on short notice (most other places were booked), and here's her draft flyer. Since this is real short notice, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for advertising and promoting the event, please let us know ASAP. Hill says if we serve drinks, food, etc., it has to be in non-throwaway containers.

KFCF 88.1 fm presents:

An evening with Julia Butterfly

            Hill

Thursday, November 17th , 7:00 pm

at the African-American Historical and Cultural Museum, 1857 Fulton, Fresno

Julia Butterfly Hill brought international attention to the plight of the world's last remaining ancient forests when she climbed 180 feet into a 1000 year-old redwood and refused to come down. Her historic protest of the environmental destruction caused by clear-cutting of ancient redwoods culminated after 738 days with an agreement that provided permanent protection for the tree known as Luna and a surrounding 3 acre zone, demonstrating that one person can make a difference.

Julia is an activist, author and founder of the non-profit Circle of Life foundation. She remains on the front lines of environmental and social justice issues world-wide. We invite you to this thought provoking, enlightening, and inspiring 1st-time appearance in Fresno, a benefit for KFCF, listener sponsored, free speech, grass roots, community radio for the Central Valley. Tickets are $7, $5 for students, 12 years and under free, and available at the office, (559) 233-2221, or at The Movies 1435 N. Van Ness, (559) 233-8346, or at the door, if available.
