I assume we are fully stocked with KFCF promotional material/swag for
the event as well?
I think $10 is way too low for a brunch. You can't get brunch in a
restaurant for $10 let alone one with Amy Goodman. Considering there
will be only 300 tickets available, and Amy is capable of drawing many
times more than that, I suggest a $30-$40 ticket -- which includes a buy
one/get one free offer for banquet tickets. Particularly if she is going
to speak, and not just be there to eat.
If this is a community event rather than a fundraiser, then I think the
$10 is fine. But if this is to BE a *fundraiser*, which the banquet is
not, I think we need to consider raising the price as this will be a
*very* high-demand ticket.
If this were being done as a *fundraiser* for KPFA, I can almost
guarantee it would be a $75 to $100 event. It's not about keeping low
income people out, but it is about maximizing the fundraising potential
with a special appearance by a national figure, and an opportunity that
comes around all too rarely for us.
