Programming Committee Minutes - June 13, 2006
 
1.  The meeting convened at 7:05 pm.  Present were David Gendron, Randy
Stover and Vic Bedoian.
 
2.  Minutes of May 9, 2006 meeting were approved.
 
3.  Program evaluations of "Jazz With Jim" and "Green Scene" were discussed.
Both programs were approved for continued broadcast.  Vic will discuss the
evaluations with the program producers.
 
4.  Discussed indecency policy and increased fines and enforcement by the
FCC.  Rych will send a memo to KFCF programmers regarding heightened
vigilance regarding language issues.  Vic will send a letter to KPFA
regarding language issues on the program "Hard Knock Radio".
 
5.  The next programs to evaluate are:   "Twenty Second Soundbite"  and "Art
Attack".
 
6.  Discussed a proposal by Paul Lucich to expand "Cold Turkey Shakes" a
punk music program to become a weekly program.  Currently it is a monthly
program.  The committee approved the request.  The program will now be
broadcast every Friday night from 12 Midnight to 2 am.  The producer has
committed to being extremely careful with language in the music and by
guests and is cognizant of the FCC sensitivity to indecency.
 
7.  Discussed the changes in programming beginning in July 2006.  Changes to
the schedule are as follows:
 
Weekday
 
Uncommon Thread a new program hosted by Bob Lambert and Bill Trayler will
appear on alternate Tuesdays 8 - 10 pm.
 
Literary Mosaic moves to 1-2 pm on the last Thursday of every month,
replacing one edition of Herbal Highway.
 
Ideas on the Edge and Common Ground will alternate on Fridays at 3-3:30 pm.
 
Sierra Nevada Earth First Radio will move to 5-6 pm on the second Friday of
the month.
 
Cold Turkey Shakes will air every Friday Midnight to 2 am.
 
Weekend
 
The KFCF weekend music programs are being consolidated on Saturday evenings.
Sunday evenings will become the literary programming from KPFA, Radio
Chronicles and Act One.
 
First Saturday:  Dixieland Jazz 7-9 pm/Pipe Organ Showtime 9-11 pm
 
Second Saturday:  Earthbeat 7-9 pm/Jazz With Jim 9-11 pm
 
Third Saturday:  Underground Railroad 7-11 pm (This will remain 4 hrs until
another music program is approved)
 
Fourth Saturday:  Classical Music 7-9 pm/Interstellar Lounge 9-11pm
 
Fifth Saturdays when they occur will be filled by Interstellar Lounge or
special programs offered by producers.
 
8.  The next meeting is set for July 11, 2006.
