KFCF Programming Committee Meeting - November 14, 2006

In attendance: Randy Stover, David Gendron and Vic Bedoian and guest John
Pethel

1. The Meeting convened at 7 pm

2. The minutes of the Committee meeting of 9/12/06 were accepted.

3. Evaluation of the music program "Underground Railroad" : The program
has an interesting mix of mainly Jazz and Blues from the producers vast
collection including much material not heard on commercial radio, and
received positive reviews.

4. Evaluation of the public affairs program "20 Second Soundbite" : The
committee reviewed two monthly programs. The first program seemed to lack
focus and the evaluators had a difficult time what the specific subject of
discussion was about at any given time. In addition there was a language
problem regarding one of the guests saying a word not allowed outside of
safe harbor time. The second program had a more organized approach to
setting up the program, but included a produced segment that should have
been more refined and well produced. There was another language problem,
this time regarding a words in a song being played. The Program Director
spoke with the program's producer about the language issues of the first
program and will issue a written warning to the producer regarding the
second language issue. Overall the program was not as well regarded by the
committee as many of the other public affairs programs produced at KFCF.

5. The next program to be evaluated is the music show "Interstellar
Lounge".

6. Other business:

The signal from Paulino Bernal Ministries radio translator station has been
turned off after listeners in the Visalia and Tulare area complained of
interference with their KFCF signal. The KFCF attorney in Washington DC
was notified and he contacted the attorney for Paulino Bernal telling to
cease broadcasting immediately. Two days later the signal was turned off.
KFCF will continue to follow up on this issue to attempt to remove the
possibility that this interference will not be repeated, as it has three
times in the past.

There will be a Pacifica Archive fundraising day on November 28 and KFCF
will participate in that effort.

Sasha Lilley, currently co-producer of "Against The Grain", has been hired
as the Interim Program Director at KPFA. She looks forward to keeping KFCF
in close touch regarding programming issues and looks forward to working
with us on collaborative projects in the future.

7. The meeting was adjourned at 8 pm. The next meeting will be held
January 9, 2007 at 7 pm at the KFCF office.
