PNA Minutes 
5-8-2007
 
1.  The Meeting convened at 7:30 pm.   Dave Gendron, Rych Withers and Vic
Bedoian were in attendance.
 
2.  The minutes of the March 2007 were approved.
 
3.  There was a discussion about designing a program guide that would
include KPFA and KFCF programs.
 
4.  Evaluation of "Pipe Organ Showtime".  The program presents a unique
genre of music that is not heard elsewhere.  Several problems were noted
including unexplained dead air in the middle of the program, there were no
back announcements or forward announcements of the musical pieces, and there
were no introduction or exit narratives on the programs.  Improvements will
be recommended to the producer.
 
5.  Evaluation of "Down in the Valley".   The program received praise as one
of the best local programs on KFCF for being informative and important in
content and considered a valuable resource for the community.
 
6.  The "Cambodian Review" program has still not been translated for
evaluation.  We will try to find a translation service to provide a synopsis
of the program.
 
7.  The staff is now producing promotional bits for the various local KFCF
programs that can be used to cross promote programming on the KFCF airwaves.
 
8.  The "20 Second Sound bite" program is be overhauled and transformed and
renamed into a new youth-oriented program.  The producers are working with
staff and volunteer mentors to conceptualize and produce the new program,
which is expected to launch on the first Friday in June.  
 
9.  The next programs to be evaluated are "Uncommon Thread", a music
program, and Stir It Up produced by the Community Alliance.
 
10.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
