[FFCF-PNA] Programming Committee Minutes

Programming Committee Minutes    3-12-08
 
1.  Meeting convened at 7:15 pm with Rych Withers, David Gendron, Vic
Bedoian, Rand Stover and John Pethel in attendance.
 
2.  The committee reviewed Mousikes Notes.  This program focusing on Greek
composers received received praise for the quality of the music and for the
unique background information provided about the composers and Greek
culture.
 
3.  The committee reviewed Common Ground.  The program, which focuses on
immigrant experiences was thought to be interesting because it brings to
light information about other cultures and peoples that is not heard
anywhere else on the airwaves, and is in keeping with the mission of the
foundation to promote understanding between peoples of the world.
 
4.  The next programs to be reviewed are Ideas on the Edge and Stir It Up -
Fresno Center for Nonviolence.
 
5.  The committee considered the program proposal from Dan Yaseen about
Pakistan.  The committee accepted the proposal and the program, entitled
"Pakistan Now" will appear on the fifth Fridays of the month (approximately
4 to 5 times a year) at 3 pm.
 
6.  Announcement of the broadcast of the "Saroyan on Radio" series to
celebrate the centennial of William Saroyan.  The programs will appear once
a month on Tuesdays from 8 to 10 pm from April to October.
 
7.  The next meeting date was set for April 9, 2008.
 
8.  The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
