Programming Committee Minutes    5-14-08
 
1.  The meeting convened at 7:00 pm with David Gendron, Rych Withers and Vic
Bedoian in attendance.
 
2.  The minutes of the April 9, 2008 meeting were approved.
 
3.  Evaluation of Green Scene:  The program is representative of our mission
to present undervalued voices on the radio.  The Green Party show has been
on the air at KFCF since 2000.  The program received mixed reviews.
Sometimes the material is timely and interesting and at other times the
program content is flat or not compelling.  It was suggested that the
program might be more compelling if the focus were on Green issues in the
broader sense, rather than the details of Green Party political process.
 
4.  Evaluation of Peace Fresno:  The program reviewed dealt with the Iraq
War funding bill in Congress and a discussion of it by the three Peace
Fresno activists present in the studio.  The program would have been
improved by addition of information and interview content from another
source (s).  The program had the feel of local people "talking with
themselves" and would have been improved with other perspectives included.
 
5.  Three new programs were reviewed by Vic:  Album of the Year, Freshno
Radio, and Soul Kitchen are all getting positive reviews from listeners and
are well produced.
 
6.  No other programs will be evaluated for the present.
 
7.  The program In the NO which aired on the first Fridays at 5 pm is no
longer being produced.  Vic and Devoya have been talking to the youthful
arts and media group FRESYES as a possibility to do that program slot.  The
are organized and media trained.
 
8.  The tentative next date for a meeting is June 11, 2008.
 
9.  The meeting adjourned at 7:54 pm.
